canoeing + beer = cabrewing...get it?

its almost two white trash sounding do deal with isn't it...

regardless thats what i did yesterday after some snafus in map direction anyway.

******************
3 lesbians in a conoe turned into 2 lesbians in a canoe and, no, we didn't throw the other one out. thought by the end of thursday i would have considered it.

10am thusday morning Krystal and i  both a get text from Michelle saying she had picked up a 5-9 shift friday, and can we do the canoeing early enough to get her back in time.

um...no...
this was like, a whole day trip planned to the middle of nowhere IL...
and if we were to try to shorten it enough to get her back, we'd only be able to be out canoeing about an hour, and then we'd be going back into the city at rush hour with a canoe strapped the roof of the car.
that does not =  fun relaxing time for anyone...
so, i felt bad, cause she needed the time away as much as or more then me, but i had to tell her no.
i mean who does that? at zero hour?

tell me...if you've had plans for about 2 weeks...like soild plans...and you'd be getting away because you have some super stressful weeks under your belt and this trip was the only method of relaxation you've had a chance for in forever and probably for the next few months...

do you then agree to work a 4 hours shift, to make approximately $40?

...i wouldn't....Krystal wouldn't...Michelle...would....

***********

so it was just Krystal (Clark) and myself (Lewis) on another river excursion. in some ways it was very similliar to our Kickapoo canoe trip.
shallow waters, rock and tree obstacles, beer...
in other ways it was diffrent, the water was much cloudier, we weren't doing this through any kind of outfitter, so there were no pick-ups, meaning...we had to paddle both down stream and UP stream under our oun power.

ooooo....so we went downstream first...bad bad bad idea...
i mean, we took it super easy going downstream, cause we sorta knew what we'd be getting into coming back, but we weren't really prepared for the reality.

the problem was in any shallow narrow portion of the creek...the current was just two strong.
i mean...we're strong....the two of us we're not weakling by any means, but we could not fight this current.
so we just had to get out and pull the canoe in some places, there was not much other choice.

2nd problem...
Krystal is a little bit aquaphobic...
she's working on it. (she's learnig to swim and everything!)

and she's fine when she's in the canoe wearing a life jacket, but she has a problem walking through deep water when she can't see the bottom.
so...there may have been a few times when the current was strong, and the water was deep and she just couldn't do it...
so...it was me, hauling the canoe and her through the water...deep , dark water, mind you...i'm such a good friend.

and she really did feel bad and apolagized profusley. i just smiled and assured her i was appriciating the variation in the work outs i was getting for the day.

in case you're wondering it is not easy to haul a canoe +1, while chest deep in water, upstream.

but it wasn't for long, and that only happened very near the end of the trip...and, truth, it wasn't bad, after sweating it out in the car and then in the canoe for a few hours it felt good to submerge myself for a bit....even in slightyly murky water...just don't swallow...

we stopped at a local diner for dinner.  "The Original Grannies" which of course promted us to ask "are there other "Grannies" which compelled this one to claim to be "The Original?" and the answer was "Yes"

apparently is a family owned chain of resturants and we were in the first one, thus...."the Original"

we got home finally around about 9:00pm...tired...exhausted...i didn't even stay up to welcome mom home. just took a long warm shower and collapsed. then got up an hour later and turned on the air cause even though it wasn't too hot, my body was not cooling off...i was SCORCHING!

slept well, sore today, not as sore as i was after the Kickapoo...that was SORE...that was couldn't lift my arms above my shoulders sore.

thats all i guess, see ya!

peace!
