What an amazing day

He has a hard road ahead of him, our new President.  But he has a huge ground swell of good feeling, a population who - for the most part - understand that the problems we face cannot be solved with a quick fix or a few strokes of a pen.  We have been waiting, I think, for a President who is willing to tell us the hard truths, who will ask us to sacrifice and help our country by doing something more meaningful than going shopping.  I think the countries of the world are happy to see that we have elected this man and I believe the welcome mat will be out for him and the members of his administration as they begin their work.

I wish my parents could have lived to see this day.

I am so glad that Pete Seeger was a part of it - even if it was just on Sunday.

I almost could not let myself believe that this day was really going to happen.  I kept thinking that it was too wonderful to be real and that something horrible would happen to snatch it away.

The crowds were amazing.  The joy was palpable, the happiness overwhelming.

For now, the celebrations, the luncheons, the parade, the parties.

Tomorrow, the work begins.
