Foul weather, road rage and the beginning of school year

Yes, the weather has been positively foul around here. There were big promises of a beautiful long Indian summer and now it is raining COLD rain every day. Sometimes it just drizzles the day long, sometimes it is a downpour from ... well, not hell, but somewhere close to that and mostly it is just disgustingly windy and wet. I am forced to begin heating the stoves and I am not looking forward of hauling the wood up from the cellar to the second floor...
To top that, the traffic is going to be a murder: two main streets are still closed in our neighbourhood. If I am going in for the afternoon shift the situation is not too bad, but in the mornings the traffic just jams to standstill. I am already considering that I should switch to trains... since from Ingrid's place the station is not that far. It is actually exactly as far as the bus stop. And I hate the feeling when the so-called express-bus cannot move almost at all because all the parents are taking their kids to school.
It seems that noone around here has ever heard of carpooling. That really-really irritates me. The drivers should think logically but no-ho. Let's just clog the streets with one driver per car (and sometimes with kids, too). I have not seen a single car yet, where there would have seemed to be children from different families sharing it. WHY? Cannot they see how bloody awful the situation already IS on the streets? Our traffic accident statistics are abysmal!
I am sure it will get only worse, I am sure. And the foul weather does not help at all. Well, at least we do not have hurricanes.
