Today is the last day of the kids' two week long spring break. It has been fun and busy and nice to not have to worry about bed time quite so much, though all three kids are napping now because we've gone a little overboard on the late bedtimes, and they haven't been sleeping in as much as a parent might wish. But as much fun as it's been, I am looking forward to getting back into the school routine tomorrow.

Spring break started with a 9 month well baby appointment for Corvus. He weighed almost 21 lbs and measured 27 inches long at the appointment. That doctor's appointment was a distinct mixed bag. We had to wait close to an hour to be seen which meant that I was stressed out and in a hurry once we did get in to see the doctor since I needed to pick up Mica from a "play date". He was hanging out with Juva, an adult friend at CoHo, and she was flexible about when I picked him up, but not indefinitely so.

Corvus had been battling a cough, one that was bad enough for me to take him in and get checked out a week before his well baby check-up. He was mostly recovered but still a little phlegmy on the 21st. The doctor listened to his lungs and said that everything sounded fine. But then I asked a couple of questions about solids, and let on that we are doing self led feeding, which basically means we give Corvus soft grown-up food and let him feed himself. Suddenly the doctor was much more concerned about his cough and worried that he might have aspirated some food. He said to avoid raisins and other little chunks, which has mostly led to me stressing out for the last two weeks since I don't know what food isn't a chunk once Corvus has broken it up and chewed on it some. If I hadn't been stressed and rushed, I would have talked to the doctor about this more, but as it is we've just had to muddle through.

The doctor also said to come back in two weeks if the cough hasn't gone away, and they might want to do a chest x-ray. Of course, kids being the little germ magnets they are, Corvus caught a new cold last week, so he's still coughing, though I'm not convinced it's related. I'll call the doctor tomorrow for advice, but I'm really not excited about x-raying my infant.

The other major thing for Corvus this spring break is that he started the break with 5 teeth, and one almost broken though. He now has 8 teeth, and it has become sadly clear that his teethe have the same issue as Mica's. So far they haven't chipped at all, but I fear it is just a matter of time.

And now the kids are awake, so I'm going to post this and call it good. Hopefully I will get to what the big kids did on their break at some other time.
