EC on the go

November was a really good month for ECing in general, though we did have a few missed poops* at the beginning of the month, I think mostly due to being out of town at the end of October. I tried to keep up ECing while traveling but it is hard in strange places where we don't have our nice set-up.

This month has been more of a mixed bag. Raine has started pooping almost every day which is a good thing overall, but it means that all day trips out of the house are complicated. I tried holding her over a toilet at a restaurant this weekend, which was awkward to say the least, though Raine is at least good natured enough to tolerate my bumbling. What I would really like is some kind of collapsible portable insert seat. We'll have to figure something out before our next big trip anyway.

Oddly enough, even though we've been missing on the poops more frequently than usual, I've also been contemplating the shift to all-in-one cloth diapers or some kind of training pants. While we still need a real diaper for overnight and long car rides, at home during the day I find myself throwing away diapers that are barely used, but too wet for me to consider putting back on her. I'm also thinking about trying to really catch pees, which training pants or other things that make me take note of her pees would help with. So far ECing has gone really well and been very low stress, and I would like that to continue while still moving on to the next phase.

*A missed poop almost always means that she starts to poop, then I take her to the toilet and she finishes in the toilet. I hadn't changed a full poopy diaper for nearly a month until the trip in October and boy was that a wake up call. Her normal misses are no fun to deal with but at least they are small and don't get poop into every crack and cranny. This is really why I can't imagine not ECing. It is just so much more hygenic.
