What makes me happy

I felt it coming a mile away, the unwellness that I have experienced over the past couple of days. I think it had a bit to do with the relentless early starts for weeks.

Despite feeling icky, the past week has been pretty good. I was thinking this morning though. I woke up and went online, suddenly thinking, "I should buy a flatscreen monitor as a 2nd for my work laptop." Hmmm.. after a while searching online (and concurrently finding a sexy e-bay coat which I will probably end up buying) I realised that the aforementioned flat screen monitor will most definitely not make me happy. My home laptop + my work laptop are more than enough to keep me going for the next few years.

I like have savings. I think my savings (meagre as they usually are of a few hundred dollars) have always represented for me a sense and base of security that has allowed me to explore my more spontaneous nature. And at the moment, more savings actually = better. I seriously want some land, maybe shares, I'm not entirely sure. I always had my 'when I turn 25' plan which involved settling in and starting saving, etc. I think, due to the staticness of my PhD situation, I am starting that plan a little early. Being flexible, I have decided that it's OK to start my plan a little early and add in a couple more years of frivolous fun after my PhD.

So, no flatscreen monitor for me.

Some things that have made me happy though include;
intimatstranger, redteacher and lmfk for band on Thurs night.
Relaxing day whilst I was sick yesterday including an early morning run (I only did 4kms instead of 6), post-run bbq with friends and then relaxing, fun day with lmfk
Check-ins at home which are very fulfilling.
Awesome workmates at both UQ and Q-Health
SMSs from bois
Nice food

I think that's enough for a while.
