I saw There Will Be Blood tonight, and if I had to sum it up in one word, that would be it. Not BAD, necessarily, just a real struggle to get through. Slow and painful. Also the soundtrack was the worst thing ever. It's either silent or constant, tense, "omg, something terrible is going to happen ANY SECOND" music, even though pretty much nothing ( Read more... )

Well, I saw it with 3 other relatively intelligent people, and none of us got anything out of it. Like I said, the acting was great, but as far as story and overall meaning go, I just got nothing from it. And yes, I know the score was by Jonny Greenwood, but it still drove me crazy. You're entitled to your opinion, but you don't need to hate on mine.

I am not hating on your opinion.

I'm hating on your assertion that the movie doesn't make sense. It does. If you and your friends didn't find the plot, characters, or themes interesting or worth exploring, that is understandable. It was very dark, unpleasant stuff. To dismiss it as nonsensical though is just...not right. Wayne's World II, now THAT is a film that doesn't make any sense.

Also, I am a false prophet and God is a superstition.

ps - The johnny greenwood comment was just an aside. I only wanted to say that i liked the score, and that remark came off a lot more snotty then i meant it to.
