Yay. I'm home. I'm also broker than broke. God only knows how I'm going to pay rent this month.
So... According to Facebook I took over 500 pictures in 3 months. Go me! That's like a world record or something. Usually when my family goes on holiday we come back with 4 pictures that all kind of look like this:
Why yes, I am very sexy. Thanks for asking. 18 was not a good age for me.
This time though I came back with fantastic photos of Ceilings.
This is Salisbury Cathedral. OMG WOW.
I attended an Evensong here. It was beautiful. The choir's voices echoed off the high ceilings.
Needless to say this is on my MUST VISIT AGAIN list. I want to hear the pipe organ!
As I said. I got fairly obsessed with ceilings this trip. I'll do a post in the next couple days detailing just how obsessed I got.
This one is the Bath Abby.
I walked on top of that!
It was quite the view.
I got to see castles!
This one was Cardiff Castle Keep.
The dude in the lower left hand corner is an Australian named Matt. He and I stayed at the same hostel and since he had a friend with a car, we visited a lot of castles together.
Most of the castles in the Cardiff area used to be owned by the 3rd Marquise of Bute.
I think he may of been colour blind since every place he owned was done up in a quite astonishingly hideous manner.
This was his dining room in
Castle Coch. See what I mean?
We also went to a Roman Bath location. The Roman's used these baths for over 150 years!
Isn't that really cool? Imagine using the same baths as your great great grandparents!
I hiked Mordor Snowden.
Because I didn't have a daypack I emptied out my handbag and tossed in my lunch/water bottle. The Germans I overtook were not impressed. "Are you shopping!!" one kept yelling at me. Dude. I live in the Canadian Rockies. Take a chill pill.
Besides. The hike was mostly like flat like this.
Bloody Valentines Day resulted in an awkward rose from a creeper that followed me around Caernarfon.
So I ran away to Dublin.
It has creepy statues dedicated to poverty. And no yarn shops! WTF?
Back in England...
I got chased by a sheep.
A couple weeks later when I stayed at Whitby YHA they gave me a free entry voucher to Whitby Abby.
It was beauty on par with Salisbury.
I need to either learn enough physics to create a time machine or meet the Doctor. It would of been amazing to be here when this was fully functioning. I mean look at it! Isn't that fantastic?
Hadrian's Wall. I hiked 17 miles of it.
Worth every blister.
And every bruise I got from falling down these stupid steep stone staircases.
Glasgow had sun and daffodils!
And bird Popsicles in the Art Gallery.
(But I won't hold it against them. They had sunshine!)
London was fantastic. I saw the wild London Bunnies of Old Spitalfields Market.
I actually saw 9 different Markets whilst in London. They were all pretty cool.
Camden probably more then most.
Closest Tube stop to my hostel. I'm still laughing over some of the road names.
I was chased by a swan in Hyde Park.
I think they were in league with the sheep.
This bridge has been in almost every film set in London that I've ever seen.
I'm proud to say I've now walked on it. Yay go me!
This was a bad idea.
A bad, bad idea. 23 hours on a coach! What was I thinking???
Oh well.
France is thata way.
They drove the coach right onto a train car. (Thank God cause the toilet on the coach was broken)
Halfway through the trip they ditched us in Lille.
This is the train station. It's mostly underground. Which is a bit disconcerting to say the least.
Luckily the next bus showed up eventually.
Once I arrived at my destination in Southern France the weather smartened right up.
+24!
The village I was staying in had loads of narrow little passage ways in the centre.
I was staying in the 3rd circle of the town. This photo was taken in the walled centre circle.
The houses were amazing in Circle C, 1, and 2. All kind of crowded together and interestingly coloured.
And old! Oh so old.
The houses in Perpignan (the nearest city) were no slouch either.
Do you notice anything wrong with this picture?
It turns out the houses on the end are mostly a mural!
I went to a castle in Perpignan that had quite the view.
If there hadn't been any fog we could of seen the ocean!
Just to give you an idea of how warm it was.
We went and paddled in the ocean. In MARCH.
The local area government runs 1€ coaches. You can ride a coach for a couple hours for ONE EURO. I took advantage and went to the mountains for a day trip. That's when I discovered this strange mural.
WTF is going on here?
I shall now tell you a funny story.
As I was heading back to London for my flight home there was a massive manhunt for a nutter with a gun going on.
This meant there were loads of young soldiers with guns asking people for their ID. Due to me going through Paris with a large backpack they asked me for my ID twice. Both time I handed over my passport. When I went through Customs heading back to England two phone numbers fell out.
:D!!!
The giant Cock of Dorking. ;)
Surry was fantastic. Sun, Flowers, bit of a breeze. I shall be going there first thing in the fall. There's also an amazing yarn shop on the Dorking high street. Cheap hostel, high amount of sunshine, yarn shop... I'll be back!
As you can tell from this picture I have a sun burn. In March. Life is harsh!
3 days after this picture I flew home where it is cloudy, rainy, and snow is due Thursday. :( Unfair.
At least I had fun! And I will be going back in the autumn for sure. It was too much fun not to.
