Room 408, Friday morning

Sep 22, 2006 12:47

Naomi didn't have any classes on Friday and she was reading the novels she had to read for Literature in Action when her father called.

"Good morning Naomi," her father said in his crisp voice.

"Morning dad," Naomi replied, feeling slightly nervous.

"I'm sorry that I haven't had the opportunity to speak with you since you left for Fandom," her father apologized.

"That's okay dad, I know you're busy with security,"

"I haven't forgotten about you though, so what's it like in Fandom?"

"It's not a bad school," Naomi admitted, "I thought that I wouldn't like it but after a few weeks here I enjoy it, it's different to what I thought it would be,"

"Is that different good or different bad?"

"Different good," Naomi replied, "I love my classes and the people I've met here are really nice,"

"What classes are you taking Naomi?"

"Interstellar Relations, Cross Species Communications, Literature in Action, US Government and Science!"

"It sounds like a good mix," her father said, "you always did like learning and the classes sound interesting,"

"They are," Naomi enthused, "my teachers are great,"

"I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying yourself Naomi,"

Naomi paused, "dad have you heard anything from mom?"

Her father smiled, "the last I heard they were doing fine on Bajor, there's nothing to worry about Naomi, the area has settled down since the war and your mother contacts us back at Starfleet every 24 hours like the normal procedure, I believe you know the rules of an away mission off by heart,"

Naomi gave a small smile, "ever since I could pick up a data padd and read the Starfleet regulations,"

"Well honey I have to go as I'm due for work in the next twenty minutes," her father said, "it was nice talking to you and I'll let you know the minute anything changes, okay?"

"Okay," Naomi nodded.

"I'll talk to you next Friday," her father said, "bye Naomi,"

"Bye dad,"

Her father ended the transmission from his end

One week down, Naomi reminded herself as she went back to reading.
