I miss LJ a lot. I don't mean writing here. That's part of it, but what I really miss is the old LJ. The community feel to this place is long gone. I'm not interested in joining half assed new communities that aren't created for good content, but are instead created by those that just want to be a moderator and don't have a fucking clue on how to

There are a few reasons why I kept this journal, even though I'm not nearly as active as I used to be. I used to write in a lot of paper journals. Being the private person I am, I would burn or shred the pages out of fear someone would come across them, even after my death (which I really shouldn't care about at that point). When I heard about LJ, I thought it was a good way to write whatever I wanted and not worry about someone accessing things I didn't want read (unless they hacked of course). It was only a little after I joined did I decide to check into other features such as finding ways to add people and communities to my list. I never got as personal in my writings as I had planned except for maybe a few posts here and there.
I definitely want to use this again. As I mentioned in a previous post, I use FB for those I know in real life, but I feel don't feel comfortable enough to have those people read stuff I would normally write in a locked LJ entry. Especially when it comes to work and family.

It just boggles my mind, though, that LJ could be replaced by short messages on Twitter or Facebook. I get so much more out of LJ than any of the other sites ::shrug::

As I wrote in the above comment, my FB account is for those I know in real life and I don't feel comfortable posting longer LJ type entries on it since it's more personal and the last thing I need is for my co-workers to read my workplace rants, for a family member to read about family rants, or if I get frustrated at a friend and need to let it out somehow.
I definitely want to be more active in LJ again. Looking at my friends list, I think about 2/3 haven't posted in a long time. And I just saw in December, one of my 2001 adds decided to leave LJ for wordpress. I like the fact that he's still blogging, which must be considered old fashioned these days. But I like old fashioned. :)
