Weekend

I had pest control come over and spray the inside and outside of the house this past weekend. I told the guy I've had a couple issues with mice leaving poo in the crevices near the front door and in the garage. I've tried blocking the area, but nothing seems to work. He looked around and explained to me that there is a tiny hole in the concrete floor in one of the corners of the garage. What fun. He set up a trap near the spot. I am going to have to clean up that area and then possibly add cement in the corner or something.

I dropped the birds off at the bird store, which also takes care of boarding for when I am on vacation. Then I went to the local music store and made a few purchases:

Aerosmith - Best of (We had a discussion about the song Dream On. We both agree that it doesn't sound like Steven Tyler's voice. He said that if you hear it live, he can't seem to hit the notes like the studio track)
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Janis Joplin - Greatest Hits
Stevie Wonder - Greatest Hits (I have Songs in the Key of Life, which is a great album. I wanted more)
They Might Be Giants - Apollo 18
Lenny Kravitz - Mama Said
Iggy Pop - Best of (also includes some stuff from he Stooges)
Rick James - Greatest Hits
Tears for Fears - Best of
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
UB40 - Labour of Love
U2 - Best of 1990-2000 (I've always liked this band and at one time I owned War, Boy, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, Unforgettable Fire, and Acthung Baby. But somewhere down the line, I sold them all back to the music store because I wasn't listening to them much)

I used to be against Greatest Hits type albums because they do tend to miss a lot that the artist has done if they had an exceptional career. But for some artists, if that is all you want of theirs, then why not. Possible that I might go back and get Tears For Fears Songs From The Big Chair another day. Might go back and grab other albums from Stevie Wonder too.

I bought most of them used, except for Pet Sounds. The idiot behind the counter asks if I was doing Christmas shopping. Yes, stupid. I decided to get everyone used CDs since I am crass that way.

I picked up the birds and brought them home on Sunday. Simba got used to sleep earlier than usual because the store shuts down at 6pm and I have their light going off at 9pm. I think he might still be adjusting to the time from when I had them there during the Disneyland trip too. So at 7:30pm yesterday, he squawks loudly to get my attention. When I go to the room, I ask him what he wants. He went to his sleeping corner and said, "Want to go night night." What he is really trying to tell me is, "Turn the damn light off, woman."

John and his family are going to Disneyland tomorrow. I told him to expect a very very crowded park. I don't think I am ever going to Disneyland again during the on season times. It's too insane. I don't ever remember it being too bad when I was a kid during the summertime. But the last time I went in June and this time around Veteran's Day seemed like hell. Now they have what seems to be more rides, a whole new park, yet the crowds are worse. Attendance must have gone way up.
