An afternoon in Genoa

Jun 22, 2005 13:15

Happy Wednesday!

We were able to leave the office at a reasonable time and go walk around in Genoa for a while before the dinner. We found out the luggage arrived (oh bliss and joy!) which immediately had me in a good mood.

I was able to do a little tourism . . . not much sadly, most of what I see is ---

the view from the office . . .

We went to check out the Festival facilities, that were right on the waterfront (on the right)

These are very old houses that are right on the waterfront, from the Renaissance. THe city was originally a Phoenician settlement.

Arches everywhere!

The grand arcades are common in Italian towns, and here they shade you from the very strong sun!

A tiny little alley, and scooters everywhere. I really want one . . .

The pedestrian zone

Some fairly typical architecture: the grand buildings are built of marble and slate, so they look striped!

A thirsty pooch!

An imposing (and striped) church!

I love the "friends of dogs" shop!

I loved this antique show stretcher! THe woman near me (see reflection) found me very amusing!

A church facade

And wonderful cherubs!

I'm off to a meeting, so more later.

Have a great day!
