First of all, thank you to everyone who called or sent some sort of electronic well wishing on my birthday. I really appreciated it and felt special. I didn't do much but work and come home to have dinner with the fam. Thanks to my boy carter for the at work celebration and for the copy of "Kingdom Come"... I'm sure it shall be an excellent read.
So... I know, I know... I did not submit my request for Experiance Points last year, yet this year I shall. For those of you who have no idea what in the world I'm talking about let me explain that I'm making a roleplaying referance. In role-playing after a session of gametime, the game master (person telling the story) lets the players know how much experiance they've gained. Players can use this experiance to raise character traits for the characters they play. For those of you who play World of Warcraft and dont do any real role playing it's like leveling up and getting a talent point to spend.
One way to gain Experiance Points is to tell the storyteller (Game Master) what wisdom about life the character has learned; not plot, how the character has grown as a person. For instance: "My Character learned that exploring a vampire Den without the rest of my friends to back me up can end with me turning up dead... or undead."
Get it? If you're still lost, comment, I'll try to explain better.
So what are the lessons I've learned the past two years (since i didn't submit last year's request)? How is it that I've grown over this time? I'm glad you asked:
10.) Careful deliberation, soul searching, and deligent weighing of consequences should always precede any breaking of the Platinum Rule.
9.) Boys build shacks, Men build homes.
8.) An ounce of Prevention isn't just worth a pound of cure, it's worth gobs of money in overdraft charges.
7.) While a strong and charismatic personality can cover for a physical imperfection (like a broken ass tooth), there's no replacing Completion.
6.) When times are bad enough, and when people are scared enough, they will do whatever they can as they aspire to Hope, whether that be spending 3-5 hours a day commuting to work, standing hours in the cold to vote early, or overcoming centuries of social conditioning, prejudice, bigotry, and soft racism to elect the first black president.
5.) It doesn't matter if you're trying to be a good "minister" or playing video games. Assuring the woman you love of protection, propiety, and prioritizational fidelity should always come first, so if you need to cutoff all ties with someone to do that... so be it.
4.) Sometimes the Holy One, Blessed be He, doesn't give you the Girl of Promise right now, but he'll at least leave you some kick ass friends.
3.) Dads can comfort just as good as Moms, and there are some situations where there's just no substitute for the expression of a Father's love.
2.) Personal space, whether physical, emotional, mental or social, is sacrosanct, no one gets to trample on that space; not even G-d, so respect the space of others but most of all... Respect Your Own.
1.) Sha-la-la-la-la-la. Don’t be scared. When You got the mood prepared. Go on and... kiss the girl.
I hope I get my 30 points of XP. and that 240 Gold wouldn't be bad either.
Five Tomatoes.
