things that make you go "huh"
We are waiting at the westbound 38 Geary bus stop outside of the Fillmore after the Death Cab for Cutie show last night, around midnight. Not too many cars are around, and it's only Alyssa and I and a coupla other kids, and a sketchy older dude with a cigarette and an up-to-no-good look at the bus stop. All of a sudden a silver VW Passat rolls in reverse about 20 feet.
A young girl (about 25), driving alone, leans out and asks
Girl: "hey, do you guys need a ride anywhere? I'm going to 16th on Geary".
Us: "umm, no thanks, thanks though!", weird, she feels pity for bus riders in the night? Must exercise more caution. The corner of Fillmore and Geary ain't the best spot to pick up hitchhikers.
Cigarette Man: "Can I get a ride?" uh-oh, watch out, girl!
Girl: "Yeah, get in," without hesitation.
Us: dumbstruck and weirded out.
Guy and girl at bus stop: "Oh shit, she got the sketchy guy!"
If tomorrow we read in the paper about how they found her, that would be no good. If we read about how they found the guy, that would be even weirder.
