A bloody faux-pas

A girl got run over right in front of my hit by a bus this morning around Market at 7th. The buses have two lanes to stop through. Mine was in the left lane, the other bus was in the rightmost lane. The other passengers and I could see our light turn green but that lone biker girl still on the other side of the four-lane road, cycling as hard as she could straight into traffic. Not hard enough. As the driver of the Hayes bus breaked abruptly, the bus in the right lane couldn't see the girl. From my window seat in the back left I couldn't see what happened, but all of a sudden pedestrians rushed to waiving arms and calling on cell phones. My heart just sank. Almost immediately sirens were heard (good thing the tenderloin is a highly-patrolled area). As we were driving away, I saw the girl laying there, neck looked bloody and no helmet in sight. I wonder how often this happens. Brrrr.

Gaudi met his death by getting run over by a tram in Barcelona in 1927. The Sagrada Familia is still being built to this day.
