And I'm working as a school librarian in a school where there's kids from the age of 6 to teens the age of 15, and I try to make sure to help everyone in one way or another. :-) I have classes to, and buy books and just... do all the stuff all the time! *lol*
You have classes, like you teach or you're being tought? (sorry... this might be a stupid question... my brain got lost somewhere around the weekend :P)
I can't remember ever seeing someone working at the school libraries. Well, I did, with some school friends, because no one had a clue about the books in existance. So we looked through them. But there was never an actual adult around... Thinking back... that might not have been a good thing. *laugh*
According to swedish law every school has to have a school-library... with a school-librarian in it that has the proper education. :-) So even the idea of a school that just says 'fuck it' and don't have a librarian makes my heart ache, it really does
( ... )
Well, I think the school has one now. But it was always close to the towns library, so yeah... And I think I visited the school when they were trying to figure out where to put the new library, so everything was a little chaotic. *laugh*
But it sounds like you teach awesome stuff. I mostly learned that when I was already at university.
I'm glad to hear that. :-) There's some that have the same thing where the school is so close to the towns library, they don't bother to much. But the school inspection has given them warnings about that lately, so I guess those schools won't get away with doing it like that anymore. :-P
And thank you! I know I'm over-ambitious sometimes, but most of what I do is what a school librarian here in Sweden is supposed to. I work full time - 100%. Not all school-librarians do, so then you have to put a restraint on yourself and do less if that is the case.
I've come to the realisation that all I can do is do my best to make sure these kids and teens that have everything working against them basically at least have the best opportunity I can give them. You know? :-P
And sorry if I got wordy, it's a subject I'm passionate about. :-)
What actually is your work about?
And yeah, kids seem to grow up so fast.. I can see that with my nephew (and it's even more shpocking, because I do not see him that often)

No problem.
We all have topics that make us go all out.
And yes, sometimes we have to remind ourselves to not over-do things. ^^
