of flesh and blood I'm made

I have the tendency to elevate my favorite musicians to a status that perhaps commands too much of them sometimes. I'm thankful to Twitter, of all things, for helping me be mindful of the fact that they're human, too.

A bit ago, Amanda Palmer posts a simple "who's there," which she does often at bizarre hours just to see who else is sharing cyberspace with her, and which invariably fills me with glee even though I've not been AS big a fan of hers of late as I have been in the past. She IS very good at community-building, and I felt very fortunate to be a Dresden Dolls fan when they broadcast their recent reunion concerts from Boston over Ustream. How many other fairly big-name artists do that?

And then tonight, browsing Janelle Monáe's Twitter page, I find this:

@JanelleMonae - Listening to Stevie Wonder's "Where I'm coming from". Trying to get motivated to clean my room..

TRYING TO GET MOTIVATED TO CLEAN HER ROOM! How can such a problem even be up for consideration when you're Janelle Monáe?! This is something I struggle with daily, and apparently so does she.

Then I remember she's two years younger than I am and feel woefully inadequate in terms of my life achievements. ;D

But, yeah, I dunno--this is so cool to me. I am probably a huge dork. Hahah.
