So this semester is going to be CRAZY.
I mostly love my classes, except for Intermediate Photography, which I SHOULD love, but the professor is a self-righteous ARTEEST who will only let us work with analog cameras, film with an ISO of 100, and expensive portfolio paper prints.
My independent study I honestly haven't started yet - I need to get another copy of the paperwork, actually, and have my advisor sign it, because I lost the original paperwork and thus haven't yet turned it in.
My Teaching for Effective Learning class is taught by the most awesome professor ever - Prof Cherrie Kassem. She's from Virginia, and she's had like a billion jobs, she owns a Harley motorcycle, plays the drums, and is incredibly enthusiastic and laid back at the same time.
My Senior Thesis project is my favorite so far. We spend all semester working on a single project and then we show all our projects at the end of the semester and one person gets a grant to show in two years. *crosses fingers* My project is to make a creepy tree thing with hands (I have some on devart somewhere) in sculpey, and photocopy photographs of abandonned places like PDC with parts of people (ie: hands on windowsills, etc..), onto tissue paper, and collage the tissue paper onto the tree sculpture (which will prolly be about 3' tall), and then create a background forest of tree people all intertwined and stuff outlined in black paint on canvas with bits of bright color highlighting certain areas of the background.
It will look AMAZING if I can get it to look the way I envison it.
I'm also auditing an Art Portfolio course specially designed for future art teachers. Because we have to create a 200+ page portfolio and I'm DYING about doing this (it must be done and approved BEFORE we student teach). DEATH.
And I'm taking a course called Technology for the Classroom which is essentially almost worthless except that I get to do projects that I can put in my teaching portfolio. And it's taught by a nice young professor who is about as technologically aware as my Dad (More than my mom, not as much as myself, for those of you who don't know).
Anyway.
I'm sure I'll upload progress images to DevArt for my Senior Thesis for those who are interested. Any feedback is acceptable.
Anyway.
Tonight is dinner with the unofficial art club, which is to say me, my roomie, my sculpture prof, my old (and awesome) photo prof, and assorted graduated art students.It's always a good time.
Much love to everyone I haven't seen or spoken to lately - I feel like I miss out because I only ever see people when they come back to visit Jersey now. ;_;
PS. Also, those of you who remember my deer lamp project: I finally have ALL the neccesary parts to complete it. So as long as my mother hasn't demolished the deer bones, I'm good to go and it will be my project to work on while I procrastinate on all my other projects!
