Peter Pumpkin
My oldest kitty - Peter Pumpkin, hasn't been doing too well of late. He'd been losing weight and I knew we were dealing with some kidney and liver issues. Recently, the weight loss increased and I noticed him limping. No reason I could visibly see... until Monday - then discovered a huge swelling. Wasn't sure if he'd broken his leg (he is 14) so called vet and made an appointment although I was pretty sure it wasn't broken.
Went today and I was right. It isn't broken. It is an aggressive tumor/cyst thingy. Best way to describe it. It has also traveled to his lungs. Not good. not much I can do about it except keep him happy and comfy. So far he does not appear to be in much pain. The vet said it is some type of external cyst that has somehow gotten into the body. Very aggressive in its manifestation. She'd seen one recently in a 12 yr old cat.
So far, he seems okay. Alert, doing normal things. So I'll take it day by day.
I do remember him as a baby. His mom was Lacy, dad was Charles. Both gone now over the rainbow bridge. I couldn't sell him for some reason. I kept making up excuses (he was growing funny... he wasn't eating right... LOL) ended up keeping him and showing him. He did very well in the show ring - the year I campaigned him he was top Shaded Silver Alter in the nation.
So I'm hoping things go peacefully for him.
I just know I'm depressed about the whole thing.
