“Done!” The woman behind the counter said handing them a certificate and Masaki felt his insides tremble realising that from now on he really was really Sakurai Masaki. It wasn’t something that seemed to roll off the tongue but he knew that he would get used it eventually. “Congratulations…”
“Thank-you…” Masaki replied shakily looking up at Sho who appeared to have been completely struck dumb by the fact that finally after ten years they were married. His face was completely blank while his eyes were wide staring off at a point on the far wall above the woman’s should his smile so wide that all of his teeth were being shown. It was the only indication that he was actually happy about this outcome and Masaki gave a nervous laugh pulling on his arm to get his attention “Sho-chan…”
“Uh? Oh…Sorry…I was miles away…Thank-you…” Sho said jerking back into life and smiling at the woman that had just pretty much married them.
“I suppose that it all seems anticlimactic after ten years of waiting?” The woman said softly and Masaki wondered if Sho had told her the whole story. He felt his cheeks grow warm and he inched closer to his lover…Husband his arms wrapping around the waist. Sho laughed his arm coming around to cover his shoulders as his lips pressed to his cheek.
“Not really…Besides we’ll have the ceremony as soon as possible…” Sho informed the woman surprising them all by adding jovially “We’ll send you an invite…”
“Oh…Um…Thank-you…”
“No problem…” Sho was still boisterous as they turned to leave the office leaving the rather bemused lady to watch them go with a confused smile on her face. Masaki was propelled at Sho’s side unsure why he seemed to be in such a hurry. That became clear though as soon as they made it out of the office and he gave a loud shout that sounded almost like a scream picked him up off the floor spinning him around in much the same way as he had done in the kitchen that morning. That morning, it felt so long ago but it was only hours and Masaki gave a laugh tears running down his face as his hand stroked his cheek. “We finally did it! You’re finally my husband!”
“Yep…Yep…” Masaki repeated a few times unable to say anything else as he was finally put onto the ground and pulled into a kiss their tongues moving slowly together. It really should have been an anticlimactic way to end their ten year separation but it didn’t feel that way. Everything cell in his body was humming with excitement and joy that finally they were married. He couldn’t stop laughing or crying in between their kiss meaning that it was probably the worst kiss that he had ever given his husband but Sho didn’t seem to mind kissing him back with as much passion as he could muster and when they finally pulled back Masaki was surprised to see that there were tears rolling down Sho’s face too. “Sho-chan…” Masaki sniffed wiping his face with the pads of his hands and trying to comfort his husband who smiled and pulled him into another hug his face pressing into his neck. “We should tell the kids soon…”
“Later…There’s one stop we have to make first…”
