Kazunari Matsumoto-Ninomiya part 73
Satoshi sat in the room watching Nino sleep. His hand was linked with Nino’s and he didn’t think he had taken his eyes off of him for anything more than to blink since he had re-entered the room. His mind and heart were swirling uncomfortably with a mixture of emotions and he was almost embarrassed to admit that there was a small part of him that wanted to say ‘fuck it’ and ‘this is too much’ before running away as fast as his legs could carry him but that was a very quiet voice and it went away whenever he felt Nino’s fingers twitch around his and he heard the beeping on the heart monitor. It was terrifying, it really was, this had proven that and he could still feel his teeth chattering and the cold shiver that had moved down his back when he had heard Kazuko telling him that Nino had collapsed.
Up until that point it had been an idea something vague but now he knew that it was very real. But he knew that he wouldn’t leave, that this wouldn’t chase him away and neither would the glares that Nino’s brother was shooting his way whenever he got the chance. He ran his thumb in circles around the back of Nino’s hand watching his lips twitch and his nose wrinkle a little in his sleep as he did so. He gave a smile of his own and then blinked again his lids feeling heavy and itchy with the need for sleep. The visitors chair was surprisingly comfortable with a high back with offered a great deal of support and slowly he let out a sigh and closed his eyes determined that he would only have five minutes and then would go and allow somebody else to come in.
Satoshi woke with a jerk and blinked in surprise as he looked around and realised that the room was filled with actual sunlight and not the horrible glow of the electric lighting. A warm woollen blanket had been draped over him and a pillow had been placed under his head. Nino was awake and looking at him with an expression that was more himself than it had been last night with the greyish white tinge having been replaced with a much healthier peachy glow. His eyes were also brighter and he was smiling a little as he said gently;
“Good morning…”
“Ugn…Morning…How are you feeling?” He whispered aware that Jun was sleeping on the other chair on the other side of Nino. Nino smiled a little more causing twin dimples to form on either side of his cheeks as he answered with a;
“Better…My heart doesn’t hurt now…I guess…Um…You were scared…?”
“Yup…I was…” Satoshi admitted shifting closer in the chair hating that some of the light left Nino’s eyes at his words but he had to be honest. Nino tried to smile again quickly though his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he swallowed before saying;
“But you stayed? You…I mean you’re still here…”
“Of course I am…I told you…It was scary and I don’t think that will ever change but it would be just as scary if your heart was normal and you were driving…” Satoshi told him hoping that the words made sense even when he was sure that they didn’t. Nino smiled though and he supposed that he must have gotten the meaning if not the words themselves. “…I like you, cutie…I really like you a lot and I don’t want to lose you…Either from your heart or by walking out…So I’m here…I didn’t run just like I told you I wouldn’t…”
“…I really like you too…”
