“I can’t believe that they sent me to this dump” Nino growled throwing his bag down onto the four poster bed that looked so hard he bet he would be able to bounce coins on it and pulling a packet of cigarettes from his pocket. He had just said goodbye to the two head boys and been shown into his room and he already hated it, everything about it. He knew it was a punishment but he had never expected it to be this bad. When his parents had told him that he was going to a new school he had thought and hoped that it would still be in Japan he had never expected them to ship him all the way around the world to the middle of no-where.
“I don’t know; it looks pretty...In fact I think it looks like Hogwarts!” Masaki said enthusiastically and Nino gave a growl not in the mood to enjoy his friends overly light hearted behaviour. Masaki was the type of person that could see the rainbow instead of the rain whereas Nino had only ever been able to see the rain. The positive nature of his servant and best friend was something that Nino normally liked but right now it was getting on his nerves just as much as everything else.
“After the box you lived in anything would be spacious...This is horrible...” Nino muttered drawing on the cigarette and allowing the Tabaco to burn his lungs a little as he sat down on the hard bed and crossed his legs feeling completely miserable. Even his allowance had been severed and the pittance that he had been given to live on was less than Masaki’s dad’s wages. He bounced on the bed a few times and quickly stopped deciding that it was as bad as he thought. “How do they expect me to sleep on that?”
“Aww come on, it’s not much harder than your bed at home...” Masaki said flopping down beside him and bouncing himself a few times before he nudged his arm “...Stop being grumpy! All you have to do, is be charming, gracious and polite until the end of term and then they’ll let you go home...”
“No... They won’t…” Nino growled blowing out a smoke ring into the air “They told me that I had to serve out the remainder of my time in school here in this hovel...Masaki! It’s going to drive me crazy!”
“You make it sound like you’re in prison....” Masaki giggled flopping down onto the bed and Nino grimaced when he heard his friends back click out. He got off of the bed and started pacing backwards and forwards wring out his hands a feeling of panic raising up in his chest. The room was bare bones, with panelled walls and thick ugly looking wooden furniture that had carvings of ugly men with wreaths on their heads and their tongues sticking out. There was an open fire crackling merrily in the grate and there were paintings in more thick wood. The only thing that gave him hope that they hadn’t slipped back into the Victorian times was that the lights were electric and they had radiators for central heating.
“It’s as good as a prison, you saw it...There is nothing here for miles!” He whined turning back to Masaki who was making himself comfortable against the pillows. His friend rolled his eyes shaking his head with his annoyingly happy smile on his face as he pointed out,
“There was a village...”
“A village?” Nino gasped with horror thinking back to the place they had drove through to get here. If that was the village he was beginning to think that England was further stuck in the past than he thought possible “There were four houses and what looked like a post office what the hell am I going to do there?”
“Send letters?” Masaki suggested and the prince stared at him in silence for a few minutes unable to tell if he was being serious or just joking around. After a few minutes he decided that either way it was still a stupid thing to say and he spat out,
“You really are a frigging moron!”
“Aiee! You hurt my feelings!” Masaki pouted his arms folding across his chest flashing him puppy dog eyes. Nino growled scraping his fingers through his hair trying to ignore the look. He had been friends with Masaki for as long as he could remember, Masaki’s father was his father’s butler and his mum was the cook, which was the only reason he could get away with talking to him so familiarly. Nino’s family had a surprisingly laid back attitude to ‘fraternising’ with the help and both his father and mother had encouraged their friendship. They hadn’t encouraged the friendships that he had been having with idols and other talents though and having his face in the paper, no matter how obscured, was the last straw. His father had been on the phone immediately after and no less than a week later he was on a plane flying to the backend of nowhere in a country he hadn’t visited since he was a child. The only saving grace he had had was that Masaki was allowed to accompany him. “Come on Nino! It won’t be that bad! The other students seemed okay...The head boys and girls and things...”
“I knew it!” Nino hissed his eyed narrowing as he caught the blush on his friends face “I knew that you’d have your eyes on that tall one with the big teeth”
“What...No” Masaki gasped his face giving him away as he dragged a pillow to him and hugged it tightly and Nino smirked knowing that he was at least going to be able to have a little fun teasing his friend about that. He stubbed out his cigarette on the small portable ashtray that he brought with him and then flopped down on the be wincing when all of his muscles in his back clicked.
“Oh so you like the small tanned one?” He said and Masaki shook his head wildly saying;
“No chance! Not my type...Besides he was more interested in Nino!”
“Yeah...Well I’m not interested in him!” Nino muttered remembering the feeling of the man stroking his hand. Masaki was out and proud but he was still having internal arguments with himself. He was attracted to women, he liked them, everything about them from their small bodies to their nice bouncy tits but he was also having a lot of strange feelings and dreams about the more masculine side of the species. He always blamed Masaki for implanting ‘disgusting’ images in his head but he got the feeling, deep down, that he wasn’t as wholly straight as he believed himself to be. “I like girls...”
“I know! I know!” Masaki said getting up and patting his shoulder about to say something else when there was a loud rapid knock on the door. “Coming...!” The servant called cheerfully almost skipped over to the door. Nino rolled his eyes again and then picked up his bag placing it on the bed as Masaki threw open the door. “Oh...Hello!”
“Oh it’s you again...” Nino grumbled seeing the two head boys standing in the doorway with another boy standing behind them looking both nervous and like he was glaring which was an impressive feat to pull off. They were all dressed in a uniform of black with a white shirt and a silk bowtie. It was completely different from the uniform earlier of light green blazers and soft grey trousers. In fact, they looked so much like evening dress that if it wasn’t for the logo stitched onto the breast pocket in white and gold thread he would have thought that it was a tuxedo “Can we help you?”
“The gong will be going for dinner in a few minutes...It’s always best if you get there a few minutes early...” The tall goofy looking one said with a smile that showed off his large white teeth,
“Oh well aren’t you helpful, I’m not hungry...” Nino growled marching over to the door about to close the door with a snap when Masaki shouted out loud and stopped him.
“I’m hungry! I’ll go down! Um do I have to wear...What are you wearing?” He asked and the tanned boy smiled pulling at his evening coat so that it was flush against his body before answering,
“It’s the ‘Evening dress’ Uniform, you wear it for dinner yours will be brought up for you tomorrow...So you’ll be fine in what you’re wearing...”
“Oh okay then!” Masaki beamed happily his stomach rumbling loudly, Nino was tempted to order his friend to stay but he knew that it wouldn’t be fair. “Are you sure you don’t want anything?”
“No...” Nino growled his arms folding over his chest. The truth was he was actually pretty hungry but he wasn’t just going to accept this without protest.
“You really should eat...They won’t let you have anything from the kitchens until morning...” Satoshi told him still with his gentle soft voice and Nino growled shooting him a glare. “And if you’re going to smoke you should open a window and then spray after yourself…”
“Whatever…” Nino huffed flushing a little that he hadn’t thought to spray when he was used to doing it at home.
“Are you sure you’re not hungry?”
“I’m not a kid! I’m not hungry...If you’re going go...I want to sort out my room and then go to bed...” he spat at them before pushing Masaki out of his room and pushing the door closed with an impressive slam that echoed dully around his room. The fire in the grate flickered wildly for a few minutes causing the wood to pop and crackle before settling down again. Nino stalked over to the high wingback chair and sat down with a groan ignoring the way that his stomach grumbled. “I hate this place...”
