I swear to god, Bo put it best - "Is everyone at Oglethorpe trying to give us an identity crisis?" There's a program for extra credit where we watch a movie on a projector and then discuss it. We watched Dark City, and it's an amazing movie. Think the Matrix, only less TECHNOLOGY SUPERHERO and more serious philosophical introspection. Oh, and psychic reality-reshaping powers and aliens. I was thinking Red Queen the whole time, lolol
But basically, aliens are mindfucking humanity, trying to figure out what our soul is. It was a really good movie, ESPECIALLY the cinematography - the LIGHTING. Oh god. Not quite Sin City-level, but damn close. Good, good movie.
Afterwards, we talked with the philosophy prof (I think) whose idea it was to show the movie, and we discussed what makes us us. My head hurts. I could go on about it for a while, but I think I'll spare you, unless you ask.
I don't think we'll ever be able to find an answer to it. Humans are beyond analysis. That's the only thing I've figured out. We can try, but we'll never be able to pin down who we are. @.@;;;;
BUT ON A LESS SERIOUS NOTE. DARK CITY = CARBON. NO SERIOUSLY. THERE'S NO WAY OUT. YOU CAN'T LEAVE. THERE'S STUFF GOING ON BELOW THE SURFACE THAT YOU'RE NOT SURE YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT. PEOPLE ARE MURDERING PROSTITUTES. HARDBOILED DETECTIVE. CARBON. shit you have no idea how badly I want Carbon to be a city floating in space....
