Brain Pain
Owwie. My brain hurts.
We started apartment hunting and all, not completely seriously as we weren't looking to be moving until about June, but started keeping an eye out for things.
We got a bit of a surprise.
My parents have put in an offer on another house in town here since the town and etc really want the property we currently have. They've found another place and have a buyer lined up for this house, so things are looking good for them. This forestalls any problems down the line i.e. the town pulling nasty stuff and condemning the house to get the property.
My dad likes to watch real estate prices, etc. It's kind of a hobby for him. He's been pointing out the low oriced houses in town to us. We've kinda been brushing him off thinking there's no way we'd possibly be able to purchase a house right now.
We decided to at least look into it, that way we coul tell dad to stop telling us about houses we can't afford.
It looks like we actually may be able to do this.
There are a few houses here in town 2 or 3 bedrooms, for under 125K. From preliminary research, we may be able to get a 100% financed mortgage and be able to do this now. If we find we can get a 90% mortgage, but need to come up with 10% down, we have some of it in savings from tax return, and my brother is willing to discuss a plan with us for him to help out with the rest of the down payment.
So Yeah. My brain is trying to comprehend that this may be possible.
