I seem to have magical pin-stealing gremlins in my lap.
I just can't account for it otherwise. Here I am, sitting quietly, pinning the lace my friend brought me onto my underskirt, and suddenly it's not just teh odd pin missing, oh no. It's about one of every two or three that I put in.
And I'm not moving anything. If I was shaking it around I could see it. But I'm not. I'm just sitting here quietly, pinning the bottom edge (to keep it straight), and then the matching top edge, and then pinning the bottom edge between the new pin there and the one next to it, and then I go to pin the top edge between the two pins, but the new one is missing. So I replace it and go to do the bottom edge again, but now the next top edge pin is gone, so I replace that one, and put the next bottom one in, and go to do the top one, but now it's gone too...
I kid you not, just in the last 5 minutes I must have had like 10 pins disappear on me. And they're gone. I'm sitting on a wood floor, so I'd hear them if they dropped; hell, I got the ones with the big plastic coloured heads so I could see them easily when I dropped them. My lap should be full of pins. I should be surrounded by them. But I'm not.
So I can only assume magical pin-stealing gremlins, because Occam's Razor.
It's the only reasonable, logical answer which fits all the facts. They certainly aren't just disappearing into thin air.
The more care I take to sit the pins properly the faster they vanish. Give me back my pins, dammit!!
