Meanwhile, Russell had left Alfons to take care of a sick Riza in Ed's absense to bring over a few more things while he'd been thinking on it.

Upon arrival, they might notice the door's unlocked and the apartment lights are on.

Whether it was for Ed's comfort or his own didn't matter- it comforted Edward, so if it was for Al's benefit, then it was mutually beneficial.

Or something.

Anyway, Edward hasn't said much while they walked- he's been polite with Roy, and as friendly as he felt he had right to be, the situation considering, but their few exchanges lacked most if not all of their usual banter and easy conversation. It hurt, because despite how much the older man had frustrated Edward endlessly when he was younger, now that Edward could stand as an equal, he missed the ... the friendship, he supposed, if one could really call their former mutual trust and aggravation that ( ... )

Roy steps into the apartment after Edward, considering what he might want to say here. He's not sure about the whole arrangement, but it's more than he's had in the past two years.

"Someone left the light on," he muses quietly as he looks around.

He's going to let Ed and Al check for intruders as he surveys the place from the entryway. "Thank you for taking care of that, and thank you for ensuring a good view. The quiet is most appreciated," he says quietly.

Russell stuck his head around the kitchen doorway, looking into the room. "Oh, hey. Back already, I see." He approached the three of them and stuck his hand out, giving him a faint smile. "Russell Tringham. I'm afraid I probably have you at a greater disadvantage at the moment, as we've never met, but I knew you'd been Ed's commanding officer. And yes, we're all from the same Amestris here."

Edward is trying desperately to hide the helpless look on his face, and while he's mostly successful, someone who knows him well could easily read it.

Fighting back a sigh, he shakes his head. "I wasn't planning on it, no. Just wanted to make sure you were settled. I don't know about Russell, though." Why yes, he just assumes that his brother will leave with him, why do you ask?

"I'd only stopped in to drop off the rest of the supplies, and hoped to be done before you got back," Russell said. "There's also some canned fruits, vegetables, and preserves in the cupboards, although we brought those over yesterday."

Al looked between the three of them before focusing his attention on Roy with the sweetest smile imaginable.

"There's a few other things, as well as something called the anti-violence field which other people have done some studies and tests on. I've been reading over the notes," he said. "Why don't you get settled and relax, and I'll come by tomorrow with them so you have an idea of the place? I could also show you where the Best Deadly Sin is. Brother took me there last week, and..." He paused, canting his head in thought. "Greed's about like how I remember him. Whether that's good or bad, I can't say, but he's definitely the most likeable of the lot of them."

Roy glances between the three of them and he nods. "Thank you. I'll be fine here, I do appreciate all of this," he says. "I'll look forward to your visit, Al."

He glances to Ed next, and he sighs. "And don't think that I wanna avoid you, Edward," he says pointedly. "If I don't want to see you, I'll keep my eyes straight ahead and you'll always be under my sight."

Finally he turns his head to look at Russell. He isn't sure what he's going to say to him...
