There's a great article up at the
LA Times's Hero Complex Blog about Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back producer Gary Kurtz, and his falling out with George Lucas over Return of the Jedi. It's a very good read, but I have to admit: although I may not have liked some of the decisions in Jedi, I am very glad Han Solo survived. It would've really sucked emotionally to rescue the dude at the beginning of the movie, only to have him die sometime in the second half. That said: the idea of Luke Skywalker flying off in his X-Wing into the sunset like Clint Eastwood in a Spaghetti Western is totally awesome, as is Leia trying to figure out how to be Queen.
(It's also kind of amusing to see a Star Wars producer bash Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. I think the problem lies more with Lucas's directing skills than Hayden's acting, but still. Amusing.)

Last night, my parents came over for dinner and I proudly showed them the contributor copies of
Triangulation: End of the Rainbow (electronic versions forthcoming - YAY). They both got a kick out of looking at the anthology and reading my bio, which was cool, since the trips we took to Maui back in the day cemented the setting. I suspect my dad will read "Haole" at some point, but I told my mom it was probably not her thing.

My infamous co-editor
Anna Schwind reminded me today that at one point in time, before we were either infamous or glorious editors of anything, we were simultaneously writing separate Samson and Delilah stories. I have tried finishing my story several times, but keep giving up.
It occured to me today that around the time I first put it aside, Emma started cutting my hair.
Coincidence?
