Tim Powers is in Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides!
Well, kind of. Tim Powers has confirmed to Locus Magazine that PotC 4: On Stranger Tides is indeed an adaptation of sorts of his book. So, YAY, Disney, and YAY Tim Powers.
Locus says about PotC: On Stranger Tides:
The fit is an obvious one, as On Stranger Tides is about a pirate named Jack who goes in search of the Fountain of Youth.
I say, after I finish my Halloween reading, I might have to dedicate the winter to reading all kinds of pirate stories, starting with On Stranger Tides, Gene Wolfe's Pirate Freedom, and John Steinbeck's Cup of Gold. Maybe I'll reread Captain Blood for kicks. (Oooooo...audio book version read by BJ Harrison...)
And I have to say, as much as I loved the first three PotC movies, I'm really curious to see them go in a new direction without Will and Elizabeth and Davy Jones...I'm hoping it's all sorts of fun.
