LJ Withdrawals (Or: Alas, DragonCon)

Sep 04, 2009 12:52

Posting here only once a week is a bummer. I miss my LJ and You All Everybody.

In some cases, maybe I'm the better for it. Or at least you are. You were all spared my 'Five "Fuck You's" = a Post' yesterday (hey, almost a Jonathan Lethem short story). Although, I also haven't had a chance to write a review for Ponyo yet, which we took Claire to see and all flipped out over.  I'll try to get to the latter sometime over the weekend and we'll all just forget about the other.

Anyway, writing-wise, things are great. The new new story (the Christmas horror one) is just about done with a rough draft. I wrote a scene two days ago that made me feel a little bit sick, which I think might be a first. Then again, I reread the scene today and thought, "Hmmm. That's not bad but it's not exactly as disturbing as it was a day ago." So who knows?

What else? My iPod died. I think I might be inheriting one my dad won as some kind of door prize but never opened. It's an older model than mine, and about half the memory, but I'm more than happy to take that trade off.

Weight Watchers has restarted their Lose for Good campaign (WARNING: Clicking on the link means you'll get an earful of Jenny McCarthy). I'm going to sign up and try again. I did pretty well last year, and think I could do GREAT this year.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be going to DragonCon for the Parsec awards this weekend. This means I won't get to share drinks with Mur Lafferty, get to meet Anne and Rick Stringer, or finally give Scott Sigler a chance to kick me in the balls for making him cry. I wish I could be there but there's just no way this year. Alas. I hope everyone else going has a blast.

I think that's about it for now. I'll try to post again soon!

this is not a diet blog, writing, my life
