Teaching meditation

Nov 10, 2009 21:16

Throughout the years I've taught many people meditation. (Not so many, but a handful. Maybe 20 or so.) Anyway, most people experience it and say, "Eh. Not my thing. Thanks." Tonight was not one of those nights.

In October I had a meetup about the spiritual solution to the economic crisis. The manager of my building (who lives below me) has two roommates and one of them showed up. She came to the meetup, seemed to enjoy herself and asked to learn meditation. I of course obliged.

Tonight I taught her meditation and she took to it. She seemed genuinely interested and even said to me, "I want to do what you're doing. I want to be a part of what you're a part of." (If that sounds a little awkward she's Japanese and English is not her first language.) I felt so touched. So taken aback as well because no one has ever said that to me. And I just, I don't know. This is the first person who might actually become a margii. And that's sooo exciting to me. I love being used as an instrument and tonight I really felt like I was. And she lives downstairs! (I love my apartment building!!)

She's coming back on Thursday so we'll see where this goes.
