so i am doing my social work final, which of course means i am a little stressed because i waited until the morning of (though that was predictable), but more importantly, i am melancholy because its social work and these things make me melancholy. so i am sitting here talking about how social workers have a large incidence of burnout because they are generally underpaid and under-appreciated in a society that values individualism (and therefore, does not see the value of a profession that views an individual's problems as a product of society's failure to meet the needs of its citizens). wait, let me step down from my soap box. ok. as i was saying, i was sitting here writing this and listening to iron and wine and a song called "everything on the ground (lilith's song)" comes on. firstly, this adds to my recent fascination with lilith. and secondly, the song had this lyric:
"we were born to fuck eachother one way or another..."
which just made the melancholy so much more. but this is a damn good song.
