Paul left this afternoon...
He got here around 4 on Friday. I was taking a nap and all of a sudden he jumped on the bed (and me). I usually hate being woken up from my naps but it was such a wonderful surprise that I wasn't grumpy. Ok, maybe a little grumpy- but more happy than grumpy. Anyway, We got to spend about an hour together before we had to go to a Christmas party for my Dad's side of the family. We ended up staying there until late and when we got back to Mema's house we watched "The Wedding Planner" with Cindy and Cheryl. Oh, Paul has to stay at Mema's house in a spare bedroom/office/den because my step-father won't allow him to stay in my house. Lame, right?
The next morning I had an MRI in Huntsville at 7:45AM so I got up at 6 and showered and such and when I called Paul to tell him we were coming to pick him up I actually woke him up because he had slept through his alarm...oops. So, Mom and I headed into Huntsville and after the MRI we went to Starbucks, TJ Maxx, and the the Dollar Store. My brother had a hockey game at 12:00 so my aunts and Mema drove him (and Paul, haha)into Huntsville around 11:00. Afterwards, we were celebrating Cindy's birthday (which was today) and eating dinner in Huntsville so we just stayed there. We walked around the mall and Kohl's before finally heading to the restaurant (Outback Steakhouse...). My aunts had taken my brother to go get a fishing bow at some store out in the boonies and then went to pick up my great uncle so he could eat with us and then go back to the house for the party afterwards. So when they finally got back into town we went to Outback. It was an hour wait...I'm not really sure how long we waited though because I fell asleep on Paul's shoulder in the waiting area. I'm not even kidding y'all- I was OUT. I NEED my nap everyday and I did not have one on Saturday. So- at the table I realized my choices were pretty much salmon, fries covered in cheese, or pasta which I had to order without shrimp. I went for the pasta.
After dinner we all came back to Decatur to Mema's to give Cindy her presents and have dessert. THEN I had to ride back to my house, get Paul's Christmas present and get in my car and drive back because Paul and I wanted to exchange presents...
When I got back to Mema's Paul gave Mema, Cheryl and Cindy their presents and they gave him his. We finally got to be alone around 12:45.
So, we had Christmas super early on Sunday...like 1:00AM...
Paul got me three presents: Harry Potter 6 on DVD, a big stuffed Panda, and a leather fossil watch. He even tied a Christmas bow around the Panda's neck...SO cute. But after we finished exchanging presents I was pretty much dead-even after my nap in Outback Steakhouse-so I came home.
This morning I didn't hear my alarm and slept until about 10:00. I was planning on getting up around 9 but oh well- I was woken up by Lina putting her cold paw on my face and leaving it there. It was like ice. She was obviously ready for some snuggle time.
But of course, I had to get up and get ready for ANOTHER party- another Christmas party with my Grandmother's (Dad) family. I had about 30 minutes with Paul when we just got to watch tv and read the newspaper before Jay, Paul and I had to leave. We got to the party at 12 and left at 1 because Jay had a hockey game at 2 in Huntsville, so we drove straight from the party to the ice rink. Then the game...
Paul left after the game. I didn't cry but it felt like part of my soul was being taken from me. We got so little time together. I really wish we had been able to spend at least one night just with each other.
About half way back to Decatur my Dad calls and says hes on the way to pick Jay and I up to go to Santa's Village (in Huntsville). When we got to the house, he was already there with Alli and Michelle, waiting. Jay tried to hurry and shower and put on clothes but he felt so bad that he just wore himself out and we ended up leaving him so he could just rest. He has been really sick the past couple days. I hope he feels better before Christmas...and I hope it isn't contagious because he looks awful.
So I threw on a couple layers of clothing and headed right back out the door with my Dad to go to Santa's Village. Afterward, we drove around downtown Decatur and looked at Christmas lights and then had dinner at Cracker Barrel where my sister refused to eat anything other than gingerbreads "mans" and hot chocolate.
I got home around 10:00 but it felt like 3:00AM.
So that was my weekend. Mema starts her new treatment tomorrow and I get the verdict about my knee so its going to be a lovely Monday.
And its cold outside and its not snowing. Hmpf
