Premonition

I have only about 9 weeks left in East Lansing. I feel so many things all at once about this fact, but mostly it's premonition. A feeling that I'm going to have strong feelings about this move, but I'm not feeling them just yet. Just butterflies. Good or bad, at least I feel something. (or is it Pre-something??)

Yesterday, Tony and I took Morgan and Charlie to the pumpkin patch. They went on pony rides and Charlie made a sand bottle which he called his trophy. When I asked Charlie if he wanted to go on the pony ride he said "I want to...*pulls out empty pockets* but I don't have any change!" I was trying really hard not to laugh but I couldn't help it. I think he thought of the pony rides at Meijers where you need a penny to ride one. Lucky for Char his good pal Tony spotted him the couple dollars after he stopped laughing at Charlie's hilarious insight about lacking change.

On the way home, we stopped by the grocery store to buy some apples/caramel to make caramel apples with. Morgan and I stayed in the car while Tony and Charlie went inside. Just before they went in Tony said to Char "Don't bring your glass sand bottle in, you have to be careful with it." Char really wanted to, so I the "child expert" chimed in and said "Oh let him bring it, it won't hurt anything." Five minutes later Tony and Charlie arrived back at the car. Tony put Char in his car seat silently, then sat down in the front seat. He looked back at Char, "Tell her."
"I broke my trophy bottle Kay Kay."

Once again, couldn't help but laugh. It's really not funny but the irony of dealing with kids gets me everytime. After that I apologized to Char, and said, "Well what do you learn? You have to be more careful with special toys hey? Next time you'll be more careful." To this he replied, "No, I broke the first glass bottle. That means you guys aren't supposed to get me a new one. When I ask for it next time, your supposed to go 'No, you don't get one now. You broke the last one, and you'll probably break this one too, so you don't get one.' Cause I probably would just break the next one too Kay Kay."

Laughter.

He's such an old soul that little Char. His intuition just amazes me. For some reason the things he says are completely logical, it's just so funny coming from a 3 year old.

Anyway, those were my happy moments of the weekend that will get me through the week.
I also got to hang out with Chris Mericle and Abby Kamke on Saturday night, good old friends, drinking and schmoozing at Chris's mom's 55th Surprise Birthday party. Abbey and I were in charge of dropping the balloons, we were a pretty big deal.
