Now that A-kon is over I can post the pieces I was working on during my LiveStreams earlier this month! Both from Black Butler, one a far bigger pain in the ass than the other.
A Demon and a Butler
deviantART Sebastian was by far the easier of the two to draw, ink, and color. He went down easily (I think it's because I like drawing characters with attitude) and only took one evening to color.

Ruffled.
Eyelet.
Lace.
What in the name of God was I THINKING when I decided to draw the outfit with the RUFFLED EYELET LACE. Never again. Nope. Never. This piece was a nightmare from start to finish because of its complexity and obscene amount of detail. I completely re-worked the image from thumbnail to tight sketch and it took me five and a half hours to just INK it. The coloring took many more hours which should have been spaced out over many more days for the sake of my spine and neck, but I was on a time crunch so I got the coloring finished in three days, I think? I don't really remember; it's all a blur now.
I make jokes about being a masochist to myself when it comes to my artwork. They're not really jokes.
You can see a detail shot of the lace

One of the huge problems I've had as a result of the depression I've been battling since Angeline's death was being completely and utterly uninspired when it came to my personal work. I still produced all of the professional work I was hired to do and it was still my top notch stuff, I just didn't have any motivation to create personal work for me (thus the lack of a calendar this year). Although I got a few pieces out last year it had gotten worse this year. I truly was not aware I could still produce personal work of this caliber (the Ciel piece in particular) and to say I am pleased is an understatement. I really didn't think I could still work like this. It's at least a small comfort to know that I still can.
I'm hoping to at least have an Ocarina of Time piece done in time for AnimeFest. I'm sure re-playing it via the 3D re-release of the game in the coming weeks will inspire me to do so. :D
