It has a smoky taste to it.

So the house almost caught on fire this morning. It's why I only got about three and a half hours of sleep last night. We had someone out to look at one of the AC units on the house (we have two), and they installed some sort of thing on it to make it keep running for a while longer until we could replace it. This morning while my dad is in the living room he started smelling smoke, and when he went out in the side yard where the AC unit is he saw smoke coming from the side of the house. After killing the circuit breakers he went and investigated and the box portion of the unit that's attached to the side of the house (not the AC unit itself but the electrical box... I have no idea what I'm talking about, so that's why it's vague) was on fire and turned the side of the house black.

So now it's going to be in the triple digits for the next five days and we have no AC going to the bedrooms at all. Fun times.

In other, better news, I was fortunate enough to see two good movies this week, first Hancock and second Kung Fu Panda.

Hancock was a GREAT movie. It had some great twists that I was totally not expecting, it was fun, and it was original. I haven't checked myself, but I could totally see a fandom springing up around this movie with all the fanfic potential there is. There's lots of sequel potential as well. Very entertaining movie.

Kung Fu Panda was really fun as well, especially for a kid's flick. I know I'm ridiculously late in seeing it, but oh well. Every time we tried to see it before, something would come up. I'll echo what everybody else is talking about as well in regards to this movie in that OMG THE 2D ANIMATION SEQUENCES. More of THAT, please.

I also racked up some good karma by saving the day for the three-year-old little boy sitting in the row behind me. One of the many things my phone is good for is that it has a blindingly bright LED light on it for use with the camera. Quite excellent for locating things in a dark theater when the credits are still running. Very good at locating lost Spider-Man action figures. While I was waiting for my phone to turn back on he was looking at me with these big teary owl eyes and his bottom lip quivering. It was tragedy. I had to tell him it would be okay and we'd find him. We did. He was very grateful.

Spider-Man is now safe.

random, movies, omg, personal, wtf
