Brrr
Cold weather continues being cold. There's the occasional bit of sun shining through some tiny hole in the fluffy grey carpet in the sky, but mostly it's all ... grey. And occasionally rainy.
I've just gone ahead and bought all of Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus books as paper copies - think I made a slight mistake buying them as ebooks, as the amount of footnotes makes reading them a bit of a hassle even on the iPad (which I don't prefer for reading anyway), although I'd manage, but - being now in the middle of the second book - I suspect these are books I'll want to re-read in the future.
I don't expect my love for this series to reach a level comparable to my love for the Skulduggery Pleasant series, but I have a feeling I'll enjoy them more than anything apart from SP I've read in the last few years (and that includes Percy Jackson). Not that I know for certain, only 1.5 books in, but while the first one was a fun straightforward kids' fantasy adventure, the second one is doing a lot of fascinating world-building and introducing side characters with their own backstories and has a lot of politics/plot in it, and... well, I'm enjoying it even more than the first one so far.
Anyway, it's so nice to read something good again after several mediocre/meh/awful books lately.
Also, there is work now, so I'd better do it. ~yawns~
