I haven't abandoned this journal after all! In fact I kind of missed it. My word it's been forever since I've been on here, and I kind of feel bad about it. Other than watching Youtube stuff (which I really need to do less of) I haven't been doing much Internet related stuff. Which isn't a bad thing, really, since it means getting more important things done. I'm still writing, still working, and still doll-making, although I need to do something different with the doll making gig as I think I'm starting to get burned out with it. Not because I'm overworking myself or anything, but because the last few dolls I made kept having issues, and I'm never quite happy with what I make. I would really like to make things that are more than just dolls that poeple put on a shelf. Something more interactive that people could take with them to Ren fairs or conventions. I would like to make puppets; marionettes for the most part, as well as shoulder puppets and something larger. I would still make poseable dolls, but probably not as often.
Some interesting things that have happened is that I nearly lost my cat, Mitsy, to a stupid flea allergy of all things. It had led to an upper respiratory infection and Mitsy, being a cat, picky eater, and delicate flower that she is, had stopped eating. She was practically on the verge of starving to death and wouldn't eat anything until I finally got her some tuna. She can't resist tuna, and pretty much lived on tuna juice until she was back to normal food. Then she got an ear infection. Then she had to get some teeth pulled. She's totally fine now but, yeah, it's been a rough year for her. We also had a bit of a scare with a family member who we all thought had a serious illness, and by serious I mean "needs an operation ASAP. Turns out it wasn't too serious after all and just needs to be monitored.
I also made a dress for a doll. Okay, I not that doesn't sound impressive but I've never been a big doll person (despite the fact that I absolutely adore doll houses). Nor am I a big fan of sewing (or, I wasn't a big fan until I started making stuffed toys). But since I have my own money that I can do mostly whatever I want with, I bought myself one of those really nice Ball Jointed dolls to use as a sort of model to go along with my poseable dolls when I take pictures of them. But since buying premade clothes for the kind of doll I have is psychotically expensive, I just bought a pattern and sewed it myself. And it actually turned out nice! Seriously, I thought for sure it would take me three goes before I either got it right or gave up. I was actually quite surprised by how nice it turned out. I'll post pictures of her when she's done (I just need to make her a better wig and some fairy wings). I think I also finally see the appeal of doll collecting. I mean, I don't plan to purchase anymore dolls, but being able to customize a doll the way you want and create your own little character is quite fun. Frustrating as all heck, but the result is quite worth it. How people afford it, however, is beyond. Some of these dolls can cost up to $300 or more (I got mine for over a hundred).
And finally, Youtube has replaced my fanfic addiction, and it's no less annoying. Honestly I would get rid of Youtube but I really like the How To videos on there. Still, it's defintely become the distraction that fanfic used to be. As for fanfic... yeah, I think I may be done with that. It's all original fiction for me and, frankly, I have no desire to get into any fandoms. I'm also not using Tumblr anymore, since I came to really dislike how much time I would spend on there.
Other than that, not much else to really report. I'm going to try not to disappear again though I can't make any promises ^^;
