I never considered myself a dog person, in fact I would say that I am very much a cat person due to the fact that my first real pet other than a goldfish was my cat Max. Max was an all white housecat and I had him from 2nd grade up through my junior year in college. It's tough losing a pet after having one that long and getting so attached and while perhaps it was easier that he passed away while I was in college it still deterred me from getting a pet for a long time.
Today, I find myself the owner of two dogs, and while Linsey being allegic to cats may have had a direct influence on the choice of pets we still chose the two that we now have out of an infinite number of alternatives. We have had Callaway for almost seven months now, he is a pointer terrier mix with greyish black hair and more energy than even a human 3 year old, so while not a puppy he is definitly a handful in his own right. Yesterday, we adopted the newest member of the Doughman family, a 7 week old german shepherd. I haven't named him yet, but have come up with a list of choices... he's an adorable little guy, but so far been quite the whiner whenever he's not the center of attention. In case anyone's interested the names I've thought of so far are Bluto, Bruce, Lex, Lincoln, Link, Manny, Samson, Stryder, Weezer, and Zorro, so I think I'm going to just see how things go and have his personality help me pick one. I'm open to suggestions right now though and while it's tough not knowing what to call him I'd rather have a suitable name for him than something we're stuck with that sounds stupid.
