Yesterday we had a group of 4 Satin Bowerbirds flitting around and chasing and building and displaying in our backyard for hours.
One adult male (blue black glossy) and three "greens". Not sure whether those 3 are all juvenile males, or possibly 2 juvenile males and 1 female. One of the juveniles was building a bower in the corner we can see out our back window. Mum took out some blue bottle caps and pegs and threw them into the garden. He came really close to her and took one. Then they were stealing them and sticks from each other. Later the adult male picked up the blue milk bottle top and a leaf and started displaying to one of the greens (possibly a female).
I tried to take some photos, but it's very bushy there plus a fence, and through a window, and they're so quick. Then later I realised I'd locked my 100-400mm lens so it didn't come out, so was only using 100mm. Gah. But hopefully they'll keep coming back.
Probably juvenile male.
