There are ups and downs in life. Good times and bad times. That's certainly to be expected. It's the weird times of transition that are the most bizarre.
I'm currently happier than I've ever been before. It's a fact. Things are going good right now. REAL good. Most days I look in the mirror and wonder how I got so lucky. It's pretty wonderful. Some of this stems from the success of MegaPodzilla. My God, our downloads are through the roof. It's so crazy. We've always been a healthy podcast. Every month our number of downloads has grown since we posted the first show way back two years ago in May 2009. About 6 months ago Brian Brown asked me what our numbers were. When I told him, he said we were getting more downloads per month than some long running Farpoint Media Podcasts. This floored me. And that was about 6 months ago. Last month our numbers went crazy high...and while we haven't topped April's numbers yet, we're on track to do so in May. Over the past two months new listeners came out of the woodwork. I don't know where they came from, but I'm glad they're there and I hope they choose to stick around.
I'm really proud of the show. It's an amazing feeling to be producing something and putting it out there into the world and knowing that people enjoy it. I think everyone knows that I went to film school back in the late 90s. Obviously I'm not working in film these days, but I have an awesome creative outlet. I owe a lot of thanks to Michael R. Mennenga. He's easily the biggest influence. He was the one who turned me from a podcast listener to a podcaster. He was the one to invite me to a live recording of Slice of SciFi waaay back in 2007, and it was he who had the faith in me to stick me on a microphone and eventually read the news. Without his influence, I wouldn't be doing this today. And I thank him.
Have you ever ridden the 'Carousel of Progress' at Disney World?? It's like the ride's theme song says,
"There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away
Man has a dream and that's the start
He follows his dream with mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true for you and me
So there's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away "
