WHO: Arthur and Morgana
WHAT: Talking and being worried
WHEN: November 10
WHERE: Arthur's Rooms
WHY: Morgana Sees things that make her worry.

Morgana let herself into Arthur's rooms, shutting the door behind her before turning to face him.

Arthur glanced up from his table and blinked. "Do you ever knock?" he asked, not unkindly. "That bit of wood? That's a door. You knock on it."

She huffed, turned around to knock on the door once, then strode up to him and sat without so much a by your leave. "You're back safely?"

Arthur blinked a couple of times, before resining himself to this. "No, Morgana, I got eaten on the way back. I'm a ghost."

"Are you utterly incapable of being serious?" she snapped back, gripping her hands in her lap. "I just wish to be certain everything is all right. No suspicions?"

"I can be serious, when you're not being silly," said Arthur, rolling his eyes. "No suspicions, no. They wouldn't be foolish enough to blame me. The boy got to his people safely."

"I'm not being silly!" She stood and took a few paces away, composing herself with a deep breath before turning. "That's good. I'm glad. Thank you."

Arthur nodded, watching her pace. "His name is Mordred, by the way."

"He told you his name?" she asked, sounding jealous.

Arthur smiled and nodded. "Yes, he did," he said, before chuckling. "Oh, come now, Morgana, don't be jealous, it doesn't suit you."

"I am not jealous. I'm surprised. I had thought the poor boy was mute, that's all."

"He did seem that way, didn't he?" mused Arthur, then smirked. "Maybe I have a way with children."

"You have a way with children like Merlin has a way with staying out of the stocks, which is to say none at all. I'm sure he was simply distressed with the entire situation, and it wasn't until he was safe among his people that he even felt safe enough to breathe freely." she countered, lifting her chin.

Arthur's smirk widened. "Or he liked me better," he teased. "Because I'm very personable."

"Personable like a snake," she replied.

Arthur pulled a bit of a face at that. "Not the snake thing, I still have nightmares after the shield."

She didn't apologise, though she glanced out the window muttering, "I'd rather have that sort of nightmare."

Arthur frowned a little, concerned. "...Are you sure nothing can be done about those?"

"Gaius has given me his strongest medicine, and even that does not counteract the nightmares," she said with a frown, moving to stand at the window, looking out over the bustling courtyard.

"Oh," Arthur picked at the table for a moment, before standing and moving to stand beside her. "I'm sorry."

She nodded, accepting the consolation for what it was. "Your father is quite vexed with me," she said quietly, seeming to switch subjects.

"Father gets quite vexed about most things nowadays," Arthur let a small smirk cross his lips.

"His promise to my father will not spare my life a second time," she said before looking at him. "I need to get rid of these nightmares."

Arthur blinked, then frowned. "He won't hurt you, Morgana, I won't let him."

"You cannot save everyone, this is my sentence to bear. His hatred and fear of magic had him scouring Camelot for a child - no one will ever be innocent in his eyes. How could a child have magic to fear? Perhaps it chose him, I don't know but... It isn't right, Arthur. I know you understand that. I want you to promise me something."

Arthur frowned, glancing downwards, oh boy, did he know. "....I understand that," he whispered, then tilted his head to look at her. "What?"

"Train hard, and trust Merlin," she near pleaded. "Become a better fighter and trust him."

"I'm aready a good fighter," Arthur huffed a little, before sighing. "I do trust him, Morgana. More than you know."

"You're not good enough, not nearly. You need to surpass yourself. You have to."

Arthur eyed her. "Alright, fine, more training, not like I have to do anything else, such as preparing to rule a kingdom or anything" said Arthur sulkily.

"You promise?"

Arthur held up a hand. "I swear it."

Morgana eyed him back a long moment, assuring herself he wasn't mocking her. When she saw he was serious, she nodded. "Good." Then quietly she hoped it was enough.

Arthur nodded, then sighed, glancing out of the window. "I wish I knew why he hated magic so much."

"As do I," she replied, doing the same. "From what I've heard, it must be that there were too many who used it for evil in the dark days, for him to see it's possible good uses?"

Arthur was silent again, his thoughts going to Merlin. "He's so set in his ways, nothing I tell him seems to get through." He turned to look at her. "I did try and convince him otherwise with the boy."

"I believe you," she said quietly. "It seems he's unable to understand it isn't the magic itself that is evil. It's how those people use it. If only.." she sighed.

Arthur frowned. "I doubt any 'if onlys' would work. He's dead set against it."

"I'm sure he has his reasons," she replied with a quiet frown. "But there must be some way to get him to understand these people don't choose. They are chosen. I'm sure of it."

Arthur sighed softly, picking at the stone of the walls. "If there was a way, I would be behind it completely."
