Spring Skiing and Finals

Dear Reader,

I just have to say that it's been a great semester overall. I don't regret anything, and a lot of hard work and stress has paid off. I'm student teaching next fall and have my placements, and I'm almost done!

Besides school, I've been doing as much skiing as possible before they close. Skiing was an adventure today. From 10-12, it was warm and spring-like, and then the next hour the clouds built. It was so pretty being on a lift with nothing but the big white clouds around. Then, they started to cover the whole sky and it got dark. I was on the lift that went to the very top of Squaw when the thunder and lightning started...it's rather scary to be on a big metal lift that's grounded with not only dirt, but snow! Sure enough, after I got off at the top, they shut that lift down. I was with several others at the top watching in awe as the weather developed over the crest. Then, as I skiied down to the lower lifts (that were still running), it started to snow! I kept skiing until about 1:30, then it got really heavy. with no beanie or goggles, I headed down. Snow level was about 7000 feet, so it was cool as I skiied down in elevation, the snow changed to rain and it got a lot warmer. Then, as we headed back to the 89, it was still partly cloudy. We hiked till 3 around Donner Lake and headed back once it started raining. We hit some heavy downpours on 80, and I must say that people do not know how to drive in the rain! They either stay at 75/80 or slow down to 40. Either way, great day! We went out to dinner with Jen's family and then we took a wal-mart run, and now I'm enjoying Family Guy.

It's almost over, and we're taking a So Cal trip once finals are out. All I have to do is make sure I have secured a job before we leave and I will be in great shape...
