Will.i.am thinks Rain is "huge"

May 07, 2008 15:55

Just got back from Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am presscon at the Walkerhill today. He gave a speech at the Seoul Digital Forum, along with Bill Gates, Sumner Redstone and other media bigwigs.

Someone asked him if he went to Se7en's preview party in LA, and what he thought of Se7en and other stars like Rain making it in the US.

I was hoping Will would say something like Se7en's great.... But noooooooo...

Will made no mention Se7en at all. Nada. This does not bode well for Se7en's career. I'm not much of a Se7en fangirl anymore (blame YG), but poor kid, still under the shadow of Rain.

EDIT: I read a translated article from a Sports daily (aka tabloid) which claims that Will mentioned Se7en during the forum and the pressconference... HELLO! I was there and there wasn't any mention of Se7en. Jeez. The translator got it wrong. WTF.

Here's his answer: "Rain is huge...Korean music is dope. I think the only problem is Rain shouldn't just be big in Korea. If American artists are big in Korea, why can't Korean artists be big in the US?"

Point well taken.

And at the presscon, Will kept mentioning Rain...Will even said he's willing to collaborate with non-famous Korean artists to help them become world-famous. Ha!

Will is really a cool guy. He seems so "real." I don't think any journalist will admit it ... but I will... Stars/interviewees get bonus points if they mention the reporter's name when answering the reporter's question. Bonus points for Will!!!!!!! *winks*

After the presscon, he even went up to one Korean reporter (an ajossi) and hugged him. Would any star do that???

I thought Will's views on piracy was just so accurate... (Especially since I just read Matt Mason's wonderful book The Pirate's Dilemma). He doesn't believe that pirates should be considered criminals, but as promoters. It's true. Piracy helps promote artists. He also says that the era of CDs are over. It's all about the total music experience like concerts and stuff. Yeah, Will... I won't buy cds, but just save up to watch you guys in concert.  (Something that I'll probably do for my J-boys).

I just love Will's Yes We Can video. Obama's winning baby! But proof that he loves us pirates ... he even showed the parody video by John.He.Is. ... it's an anti-McCain one..

celebrity encounter, star spotting, work, stars from elsewhere, hollywood stuff
