Tomorrow afternoon is Carl's memorial service. Pat and Erin and I will all be driving over to Philly together. As sad as I know it will be, it will be good to be with a large group of our friends to remember him and grieve a little more together. Love ya, Carl. I'm excited for Labor Day LARP this year, since I got my (EXCELLENT) character in my email on Wednesday... (I'm the Dragon Lady!), but there's no question that this year's game will be bittersweet without Carl there to enjoy the fruits of his labors with the other Temple Trolls and the rest of the Wilmark Dynasty family.
Anyway, the sadness aside, July has been a busy and crazy month. Pat is on the hook for a job and it seems really promising that there will be confirmed good news VERY soon. It's been almost a full year since he's been employed (other than his Part-Timing at The Compleat Strategist two days a week), and this would be a BIG turn around for us.
I'm actually on the hook for a number of serious jobs (read: promotion... location... $$$!!), but nothing serious has come of any of them yet. I'm biding my time, loving my boss, and mostly enjoying my very long lazy days at dressbarn in the meantime.
I've been exercising my butt off for 3 months straight, and thanks to my atrocious eating habits, I haven't really lost more than a pound. Sad, really. Auditions for "Cabaret" are next Sunday afternoon. I'm looking forward to them, and I'm so nervous (this is the ONLY show I'm auditioning for in 2011, and I've been waiting 8 months for it!), but I wish I'd been able to get some more results in the shaping-up-the-bod department beforehand. I've pushed back my goal for Labor Day, but we'll see how that goes with a week-long vacation in there at the end of next month. heh.
The band has been playing pretty regularly. We're off for the month of August, to allow for said vacation and the other band members' summer traveling, etc. But we've got 2 gigs in September waiting for us on the other side. Dad, Mary, Aunt Donna & Uncle Chuck just came out to our last gig on Friday the 22nd at "A Taste of Key West" which would have been FANTASTIC (outdoor stage, sandy beach, riverfront breeze, great food, cheap beer...), but it was THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR, topping off somewhere near 112 degree heat index, even during our 7pm-11pm time slot to play. NEXT year, we'll have to book there for multiple weekends, and it will be a great party. :-)
I guess that's it for now. Pat bought me a Barnes & Noble "nook" e-reader, so I've been reading a shit-ton lately, even more than usual, and totally happy about it....
I'll update on results from Cabaret auditions, and anything crazy that happens in the near future.
Love you, LJ. ;-)
