But South River has azuki bean miso tamariWhile I have lived without soy sauce lo these many years, I do occasionally crave garlic broccoli. I used to make an approximation of soy sauce with marmite, salt, water, and a splash of mirin, but marmite is offlimits for my gluten-free diet. I've had to ( Read more... )

Holy wow! That is so very excellent, I will have to order some. Thanks for passing this on. Also... chickpea miso sounds intriguing.

It's good. I like Miso Master's chickpea miso, too, but it's significantly lighter in flavor. The South River miso has the occasional chunk of fermented chickpea, which is rather cheesy and strong.

There is a slight risk of cross contamination. Some of the other miso koji are fed barley. I've never had a problem, but I haven't paid for independent lab testing, either. ;)

What, you don't have an independent laboratory in your basement? What kind of celiac are you, anyway?

Maybe I'll check it out sometime, for the time being I'm going to stick to my brown rice miso

Tell Tommy to eat his Blue Ridge PIG lovin' heart out.

We ate at Buford's Buzzard Roost BBQ in Yarnell AZ tonight (4,890' elevation). I had the pattie melt (their's isn't a burger pattie, but Philly Steak shaved with onions & provolone on grilled homemade rye sourdough bread) potato salad & baked chili beans. Your mom had the BBQ sampler platter, Biscuit( I got), dill pickle spear, grilled veggies, grilled rosemary taters, beef BBQ, pork BBQ, Chicken BBQ & smoked pork "riblets". A little of each and looks like she has lunch for tomorrow in the frig. The BBQ was excellent per your mom.
