Google Scholar has been a mixed bag for me. In math, we have great resources like ArXiV to keep abreast of new articles and MathSciNet for seeing how many citations your (and others') articles have. However, in a lot of other fields, such databases are lacking, and so Google Scholar fills a need. Even in math, I use it to keep track of new articles ( Read more... )

All my students are getting nasty stomach viruses and awful diseases. I am just going to try to keep healthy and avoid them as much as possible. Unfortunately, they have an exam on Wednesday so I'm sure even the sick ones will be in my office hours today and tomorrow.
