I booked my hotel because we had stayed in it several times and it provided four important features: 1) it had a price that floated around $100/night depending on the season, which is on the cheap end for Paris; 2) the rooms are relatively large for Paris and have a desk; 3) there is free wifi; 4) most things seemed to work relatively well. I just checked into a hotel in New Haven. My reaction upon entering the room: "oh, that's a big bed. And a desk and chair! and large TV! and a fridge and microwave!" ::rounds corner:: "and a couch and coffee table?!?!"

I've been staying in far too many European hotels lately...

We just arrived at our hotel in Paris. Since my CNRS interview is at 9am tomorrow, we opted against our usual hotel for a hotel that's within walking distance of the interview location. Got into Leeds around 8:30 tonight. The hotel is so-so. I'm sharing a room with someone from the conference who I haven't met yet since he was out when I arrived. I can't tell you how much we were looking forward to our new hotel in Stockholm. The one we were in last night had really hit our limits. The bathroom was gross, with a surprise source of water that leaks out of the base of the toilet when you sit down on it, wetting your pants if they are around your ankles.
