hundreds of legs!

A week ago, I saw two half inch-long centipedes scurrying from my desk to another room. I managed to kill one, but the other sped off into the darkness of the other room.

This afternoon, I killed a centipede by my desk that was an inch and a half long. Just now I killed a baby centipede, again by my desk.

This is making me uneasy. First, I don't like centipedes, even if they're harmless. And they may suggest the presence of other bugs that we haven't seen. Hopefully no cockroaches, but I have noticed a lot of tiny spiders building webs in various bookshelves and the like. Them I don't mind, since they catch the flies and mosquitoes that steal in from the shaded stoop whenever we open the front door.

Second, is there something about where my desk is that's attracting them there? Or is it simply that much of the time I spend at home right now is at my desk, so I'm only likely to see the ones that are scurrying around there rather than the rest of the apartment?

We shall see...

bugs, apartment
