I may have said I have little motivation to cook something involved when it's just for me, but that's not entirely true. If I've bought treats for myself, then I'm totally willing to spend the time preparing and cooking them. Today, being my first day at the market since Christian left, is one such day. The sandwich you first describe needs some greens and tomato, doesn't it?

When I was a child my mom would make marron glace once a year. It is the single, most convoluted recipe I remember. It took a week.

tomato would have been great! But I didn't buy any today.

I stumbled upon the recipe for marron glacé while looking for things to do with chestnuts and the recipe was so involved that I don't know that it's really worth the time. They're really, really good though.

Indeed. They are amazing, but it is hard to justify what it takes to do them, but they are amazing, but... Help! I am caught in a loop!

I clicked on the marron link and was reading about chestnut trees and how the "butt" of a tree sapling is sometimes painted white until there is enough canopy to prevent sunburn, which made me google "tree butt" and click "images"... and GAH!

(but glad to see the old favorite is right there prominently remembered...)
