pampering myself

I may have said I have little motivation to cook something involved when it's just for me, but that's not entirely true. If I've bought treats for myself, then I'm totally willing to spend the time preparing and cooking them. Today, being my first day at the market since Christian left, is one such day. For breakfast I had a sandwich on banette with butter, jambon cru and Beaufort cheese. This was followed with a fromage blanc with wild blueberry preserves. I snacked on some olives a few hours later. Just now I had a late, late lunch consisting of six oysters on the half shell--my oyster shucking technique has gotten so much better!--and a glass of fruity Bordeaux wine to wash it down. For dinner, I'm planning on penne with chanterelle mushrooms, accompanied by more of the Bordeaux, and a dessert of two marrons glacés from the confectioner a few doors down. They're pricey (2€ each) but I bought some the night before Christian left and they were a sleepy, extended orgasm in my mouth. I even joked to Christian before he left that while he's gone I'm going to spend our savings on my marron addiction. I guess it's not really a joke...
